From Initial Inquiry to Pollutec 2025

The project began with an inquiry from a UK customer looking for a suitable solution for large-format thermoplastic sheet bending.

The relationship then moved from online communication to a face-to-face discussion when Weissenberg exhibited at Pollutec 2025 in Lyon, France. The customer visited our booth to learn more about our plastic sheet bending equipment, discuss the application and better understand possible machine configurations.

Following the exhibition discussion, the customer arranged a visit to the Weissenberg factory in China for a more detailed technical evaluation.

Factory Visit and Live Bending Tests

During the first factory visit, the focus shifted from general product discussion to actual machine performance. The customer evaluated two configurations from the Weissenberg WeiFlex plastic sheet bending machine range.

One machine was equipped with a V-type upper heating knife, while the other used a flat upper heating knife. This allowed the customer to compare the heating configurations directly rather than relying only on technical documentation.

Our technical team also carried out two live bending demonstrations:

• 55° bending test
• 35° bending test

The customer was able to observe the heating and bending process in person and review the resulting formed sections. This hands-on evaluation helped both sides discuss the machine configuration using actual test results.

Confirming a Customized 6.5-Meter Solution

After the factory evaluation and technical discussions, the project moved from machine comparison to configuration confirmation.

One of the key requirements was the ability to process large-format thermoplastic sheets, which led to the selection of a customized 6.5-meter plastic sheet bending machine.

For long-sheet fabrication, working width is only one part of the requirement. Heating conditions, machine structure and bending consistency also need to remain suitable across the full bending length. The 6.5-meter configuration was therefore developed around the customer's required processing width and fabrication process.

The Customer Returns for Final Inspection

After manufacturing of the customized machine was completed, the UK customer returned to the Weissenberg factory for a second visit.

The purpose of this visit was different from the first. Instead of evaluating which solution to purchase, the customer was now able to inspect the completed 6.5-meter machine manufactured for the project.

The final inspection included a review of the machine structure, operating condition, heating performance and bending results. On-site bending demonstrations were also carried out as part of the inspection process before the machine was prepared for shipment to the United Kingdom.

From Requirement to a Verified Machine Solution

What makes this project valuable is not only the 6.5-meter working width, but the complete evaluation process behind the final solution.

The project progressed from initial inquiry to exhibition discussion, factory testing, machine confirmation and final inspection. At each stage, the customer gained a clearer understanding of the proposed solution before moving forward.

Large-Format Plastic Sheet Bending Solutions

Weissenberg plastic sheet bending machines are designed for thermoplastic fabrication applications involving materials such as PP, PE and PVC.

The WeiFlex range is available in working widths from 1.5 to 7 meters, allowing machine size and configuration to be selected according to sheet dimensions and fabrication requirements.
